Findlay High School has hired Stefan Adams to be the next head football coach of the Findlay Trojans.
Adams takes over from Matt Pees who left after one season as head coach to return to the NFL.
Adams, a school counselor for Findlay City Schools, was an assistant coach for the Trojans from 2017-2019.
“Stefan’s relationships with our student-athletes and community will provide a seamless transition honoring our ‘Tradition of Excellence’ at Findlay High School,” said Athletic Director Nate Weihrauch.
“We are blessed to have Stefan return to our football program where he is currently a school counselor. His experience and genuine care and concern for our youth has been inspirational.”
Weihrauch added that Stefan’s enthusiasm and commitment to their ‘Culture of Champions’ will continue to drive the goals and mission of Findlay City Schools.
He says Stefan believes in education-based athletics and is looking forward to enhancing the fundamental development of youth athletics and Trojan Pride within the community.
From Findlay City Schools:
Stefan resides in Findlay with his wife Kresana and has spent the last six years as a school counselor within the Findlay City School District. Stefan played college football at Bloomsburg University where he received both his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Communication Studies and School Counseling. From 2014 through 2017 he was an assistant football coach with the Oilers at the University of Findlay and from 2010-2014 was an assistant coach at Bloomsburg University. The Findlay Athletic Department and Findlay City Schools welcome Coach Stefan Adams back to Findlay Trojan Football and Friday Night Lights at Donnell Stadium. Go Trojans!
Last week was a big week for Findlay Trojans football standout Luke Montgomery as even more college football offers came in, and one in particular stood out among the rest.
The two-way lineman (#97 in the pic above) received offers to play for Miami, Pittsburgh, Florida State and…Ohio State.
Luke, who is an athletic six feet five 260 pounds, tells WFIN that wherever he decides to play college football, he’s going to show up ready to compete.
Luke wouldn’t tip his hand about which way he might be leaning but did say he enjoyed the atmosphere in Ohio Stadium during a visit in 2019.
He says basketball is actually his favorite sport and he looks forward to hooping it up next season for the Trojans.
Luke is only a sophomore so he has two more seasons left with the Trojans and expects big things next season.
“I really believe in this team. I think this next year’s gonna be a really huge year for us.”
Customs authorities in Ohio say they intercepted a shipment of cereal earlier this month with a special “frosting”.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in Cincinnati reported finding more than 40 pounds of cocaine-coated corn flakes that was being shipped from South America to a private residence in Hong Kong.
Officials said a drug sniffing K9 named Bico was checking out incoming freight from Peru on February 13 when he alerted officers to the package.
Officers found that the cereal contained white powder and the flakes were coated with a grayish substance, and both tested positive for cocaine.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection said shipment contained about 44 pounds of cocaine-coated corn flakes, which could have a street value of up to $2,822,400.
Coast Guard and fire department personnel rescued 10 people who were stranded on ice floes on Lake Erie in Cleveland.
Coast Guard Great Lakes said in a Twitter post that an ice rescue team and local agencies responded at about 4:30 Sunday afternoon to a report of 10 people stranded on two separate ice floes near Edgewater Park.
A helicopter was dispatched from Detroit for support.
The Coast Guard said six people were rescued via an ice skiff and fire department rescuers escorted the other four people off the ice.
The ODNR says people need to be very cautious of ice conditions this week with warming temperatures whether you are at Lake Erie or at an inland lake.
The National Weather Service in Cleveland says dangerous ice conditions continue on Lake Erie and people should stay off the ice.
The ice along the shore is expected to drift toward open water. Anyone on the ice risk drifting from shore and place themselves and first responders in danger.
Three people were injured in a single-vehicle crash east of McComb.

Her car went off the left side of the road, overturned and came to rest on its side.
Valentine, along with passengers Alysha Enright, 18, of Fostoria, and Miranda Coleman, 23, of Fostoria, were injured and transported to Blanchard Valley Hospital.
Valentine was cited for Failure to Control.
Assisting at the scene was the McComb Fire Department, Hanco EMS and BG Towing.
The two companies announced on Monday that they have entered a definitive transaction agreement under which Goodyear will acquire Cooper for a value of approximately $2.5 billion.
“This is an exciting and transformational day for our companies,” said Richard J. Kramer, Goodyear chairman, chief executive officer and president.
“The addition of Cooper’s complementary tire product portfolio and highly capable manufacturing assets, coupled with Goodyear’s technology and industry leading distribution, provides the combined company with opportunities for improved cost efficiency and a broader offering for both companies’ retailer networks. We are confident this combination will enable us to provide enhanced service for our customers and consumers while delivering value for shareholders.”
“We have a great deal of respect for Cooper’s team and share a commitment to integrity, quality, agility and teamwork. We look forward to welcoming Cooper to the Goodyear family,” Kramer added.
Brad Hughes, Cooper president & chief executive officer said, “Cooper has transformed into a dynamic, consumer-driven organization that has balanced traditional and emerging channels to increase demand for our products, while updating and effectively leveraging our global manufacturing footprint. I am extremely proud of what our team has accomplished over the past 107 years and am grateful to our talented employees for their contributions and commitment. This transaction marks the start of a new chapter for Cooper, which we are entering from a position of strength. We believe that it represents an attractive opportunity to maximize value for our shareholders, who will receive a meaningful premium as well as the opportunity to participate in the upside of the combined company. We look forward to the opportunity to combine Cooper’s considerable talents with Goodyear’s, and to be part of a bigger, stronger organization that will be competitively well-positioned to win in the global tire industry.”
Findlay-Hancock County Economic Development Director Tim Mayle spoke with Cooper CEO Brad Hughes.
Off that conversation, Mayle says there are no expected changes or job losses with the manufacturing operation in Findlay.
And while the combined company will be headquartered in Akron, Goodyear is committed to maintaining an office presence in Findlay.
It’s unclear how many Findlay office jobs will be affected.
The transaction will expand Goodyear’s product offering by combining two portfolios of complementary brands. It will also create a stronger U.S.-based manufacturer with increased presence in distribution and retail channels while combining both companies’ strengths in the highly profitable light truck and SUV product segments. The combined company will have approximately $17.5 billion in pro forma 2019 sales.
Under the terms of the transaction, which has been approved by the Boards of Directors of both companies, Cooper shareholders will receive $41.75 per share in cash and a fixed exchange ratio of 0.907 shares of Goodyear common stock per Cooper share for a total equity value of approximately $2.8 billion. Based on Goodyear’s closing stock price on February 19, 2021, the last trading day prior to the announcement, the implied cash and stock consideration to be received by Cooper shareholders is $54.36 per share, representing a premium of 24% to Cooper’s closing stock price on February 19, 2021, and a premium of 36% to Cooper’s 30-day volume weighted average price as of the close on February 19, 2021. Upon closing of the transaction, Goodyear shareholders will own approximately 84% of the combined company, and Cooper shareholders will own approximately 16%.
Founded in 1914, Cooper is the 5th-largest tire manufacturer in North America by revenue with approximately 10,000 employees working in 15 countries worldwide. Cooper products are manufactured in 10 facilities around the globe, including wholly-owned and joint venture plants. The company’s portfolio of brands includes Cooper, Mastercraft, Roadmaster and Mickey Thompson.
