Local Gas Prices Up Over The Last Seven Days

4/3/17 – 5:40 A.M.

Local gas prices have jumped over the past week. OhioGasPrices.com reports the average price for a gallon of regular in Findlay today is $2.24. That’s up 18 cents over the last seven days. Prices are about even with where they were a month ago.

Drivers in Ottawa report paying $2.29 today. That’s up 20 cents over last Monday.

The statewide average is $2.31 for a gallon of regular. That’s a 19 cent increase over the last week.

Four Hurt In Weekend Crash East Of Findlay

4/3/17 – 5:31 A.M.

A two-car crash injured four people in Hancock County Saturday afternoon. The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office reports the collision happened around 5:30 p.m. on Hancock County Road 180 near State Route 37.

20-year-old Taylir Schiewe was driving north on Road 180 when she hit the back of a car driven by 69-year-old Mary Pfeiffer of Forest. Pfeiffer had slowed to turn on to Route 37.

EMS crews took both drivers and their passengers to Blanchard Valley Hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Pavement Work Continues On I-75 North Of Findlay This Week

4/3/17 – 5:22 A.M.

ODOT crews will continue pavement work on I-75 in our area this week. The paving project will reduce the interstate to two lanes between Hancock County Road 99 and Oil Center Road in North Baltimore.

Crews may reduce I-75 down to one lane between Findlay and Perrysburg at times over the next few months to finish the expansion project in that area.

United Way Of Hancock County Issues $1.7 Million In Grants

The United Way of Hancock County approved $1.7 million in grants for 27 programs late last week. The money comes from the 2016 United Way fundraising campaign. Before the agency doled out the grants, 38 community members reviewed requests for the money. The groups evaluated programs by their past results and the most pressing needs of the community.

The largest single grant went to Open Arms Domestic Violence & Rape Crisis Services for $305,000. Findlay Hope House and the HHWP Community Action Commission both received more than $200,000.

Investigation Continues After Findlay Woman’s Body Found In Lima

4/3/17 – 5:04 A.M.

The investigation continues today after police found the body of a Findlay woman in an alley in Lima Friday afternoon. The Lima Police Department reports officers found 23-year-old Shae Dickerson near the 700 block of Franklin Avenue late last week. The Lucas County Coroner’s Office is investigating the cause of death.

Investigators say it appeared someone left Dickerson’s body in the alley after she was already dead.
