Vanlue remains under a village-wide boil water advisory today. A pump failure caused depressurization of the water system over the weekend. As a result, you should boil your water for at least one minute before using it.

The Children’s Museum of Findlay hosts the third Stem Saturday tomorrow morning. Executive director Linnea DiBerardino said says that this event will focus on bees.

The event will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Children’s Museum. DiBerardino added that there will not be any actual bees at the event.

The Ohio Investigative Unit is urging students to be safe on spring break when it comes to drugged drinks. Agent-in-Charge Michelle Thourot joined us on WFIN and said that it can be hard to tell if your drink is drugged.

Thourot said that you should always watch any drink you order get poured, whether it is alcoholic or not.

Thourot said that you should also avoid leaving your drink unattended. If you do leave your drink alone, Thourot said you should just get a new one. She added that if you notice someone is impaired, you should say something to the bar staff or security. She said that a minute conversation can save someone’s life and future.

It is Consumer Protection Week and Toledo Better Business Bureau President Dick Epstein joined us on WFIN to talk about scams. He said that you shouldn’t trust caller ID when you receive a phone call from someone you don’t know.

Epstein said that scammers will often try to get you to believe they are the IRS or law enforcement and that you will be put under arrest. He said the best thing to do is ignore the call and let the authorities know.

Epstein added that businesses can unethically buy reviews as well.

Epstein said that you can visit the BBB’s website to find accurate ratings of businesses through their investigations. This will help you determine if you can trust a business.

A railroad crossing is closed in Fostoria today. CSX is performing repairs at their crossing on South Main Street. The closure will run from 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

Putnam County health officials are sizing up the results of a 2017 survey of students in grades six, eight, 10, and 12. The Lima News reports the Putnam County Task Force For Youth held a meeting on the topic Thursday.

The study found students in the county start using alcohol at an average age of 13.8. That’s down from 14.2 in 2015. While that number isn’t going the direction task force members want to see, attitudes about underage alcohol use are changing. The survey found 81 percent of high school seniors say that alcohol use is wrong or very wrong. 92 percent of the parents of eighth-grade students tell their kids underage alcohol use is wrong.

The survey also accounted for marijuana and tobacco use, as well as violence and behavioral health.

A precision tool maker in Arcadia is expanding. RPM plans to build a 2,000 square foot warehouse this year. President and owner Eric Metcalfe says they’ll use the building for raw material and scrap storage. He adds it will open up space in the existing facility for more production.

Metcalfe says his big issue right now is finding people to fill jobs. He adds he hasn’t been able to find people who have had an apprenticeship, so he’s hiring younger inexperienced workers. RPM needs about six more people right now.

One person is recovering from injuries after crashing into a school bus in Wood County. Sheriff’s deputies say a car slammed into the Eastwood Local Schools bus yesterday afternoon on State Route 25 near Bowling Green. Seven students on board the bus were not hurt. The wreck is under investigation.

03/06/19 – 10:17 P.M.

The Findlay-Hancock County Economic Development Office took a look back at 2018 during a special presentation Thursday evening. Director Tim Mayle said that they are excited to be named the nation’s top micropolitan. He added that the area had a lot of projects that counted towards that award and some that didn’t but are just as important.

Mayle added they plan to recruit more people to the workforce in 2019.

Mayle added that they will focus on housing needs this year as well. He said that there needs to be more housing development options for workers to come to Findlay.
