Tiffin Police Looking For Information On Calvert High School Threat

03/01/19  – 2:42 P.M.

The Tiffin Police Department responded to a threat made at Calvert High School. The Advertiser-Tribune reports that officers were shown a threatening message the school found. The school was evacuated while police and Tiffin Fire Rescue Division searched the building. Nothing suspicious was found and the students were brought back in.

Findlay Robbery Suspect Pleads Guilty

3/1/19 – 5:16 A.M.

Another suspect in a Findlay robbery has taken a plea deal. 20-year-old Tyrone Taylor of Tiffin pleaded guilty to a robbery charge Thursday. The Hancock County grand jury originally indicted him on an aggravated robbery charge with a firearms specification.

Investigators say Taylor and three others took a pair of Nike Air Jordan shoes and marijuana from someone behind the Dominos Pizza location on North Main Street last July.

Taylor’s sentencing hearing is set for May 9th.

Findlay Businessman Pleads Guilty To Charges Stemming From Rape Investigation

3/1/19 – 5:09 A.M.

A Findlay businessman has pleaded guilty to several charges stemming from a rape investigation. 39-year-old Michael Lewis appeared in court Thursday. The owner of Partitions Plus pleaded guilty to counts of aggravated burglary, assault, and abduction.

The indictment in the case accused Lewis of trespassing in a Findlay woman’s home and forcing her to engage in sexual activity. The victim agreed to prosecutors dropping a rape charge. She also agreed to the prosecution changing a kidnapping charge to a count of abduction.

The victim plans to speak at the sentencing hearing on May 23.

Seneca County Health District Prepares To Deny Permit For Sunny Farms

Seneca County officials are preparing to deny a permit to a Fostoria landfill. The Seneca County General Health District voted last night to begin the license denial process for the Sunny Farms landfill. Residents have complained about the smell of rotten eggs at the landfill and blame out-of-state construction waste for the problem. More hearings will be scheduled before a final decision is made.
